unspooling AFTER DARK episode 23

Reading "Dagon" by H.P. Lovecraft
1

Let’s dig into one of Lovecraft’s most sublime compositions, shall we?

As a nascent horror fan back in the day, “Dagon” was the story that taught me the quintessential meaning of the term “Lovecraftian.” Whether you’re a longtime admirer of his work, or are simply curious to find out what all the fuss is about, “Dagon” is sure to please; it does so very much with so very little! It’s chock-full of such an overwhelming and palpable sense of dread that it almost feels contagious (no wonder Lovecraft was a hit at parties). It’s great! But don’t worry—scary stories are often the perfect balm for what ails you, so hit that “Play” button, and let’s go a little mad together!

Enjoy,

c.d.
