Brilliant Cody felt as if I was there with you as well. My mom loved it she can no longer see properly so she felt as if she was there as well. Excellent !!!!!

Everything about this resonated with me. Brilliant use of imagery, felt as though I was walking WITH you. the msg itself convicted me of spending too much time on my phone, as you say, listening to podcasts while doing chores versus allowing that quiet time to be just that…quiet. Thoroughly enjoyed this read.

This resonates deeply. Last weekend we went to a birthday party an hour away, only to leave unnoticed because our friends eventually retreated into their phones in separate areas of the house. Worse, our daughter's friends --aged, 9, 10, and 11--were engrossed the entire time in phones when not engrossed in Nintendo Switches. Once I saw my 10-year-old daughter had to play with a 3-year-old, I decided it was time to leave.

Like you said, the devices can be useful tools. But we have become addicts in need of intervention.

Wowowowow that's brutal! It is beyond scary how many parents seem to be relying on technology to "raise" their kids for them. Technology shouldn't be there to assuage your every problem or alleviate every possible second of boredom and downtime. Madness!

Although--I've gotta say--I'm having a pretty good laugh thinking about how many people you must have imagined choking out after driving all that way just to be rudely ignored! LOL

We knew they made a mistake when they gave their kids phones for Christmas. My friend explained it half-apologetically, lol. It's sad, really. I just have to inculcate in my daughter than withholding a phone from her is for her own synaptic good. And she gets it!

It's great that you go for your walks and appreciate the natural beauty.

Good for you--for having the strength of your convictions and for raising what is clearly a very bright youngster! I don't envy the minefield you're going to have to navigate as she gets old and technology only gets more out-of-hand.
